WHAT IS A "GUMPTI" LIBRARY?

A gumpti library is a small, roadside library that resembles local Varanasi chai stalls. However, instead of tea, the stall is stocked with books! The libraries are strategically placed in neighbourhoods where access to quality books is non-existent but in demand. Each gumpti is equipped with school textbooks, newspapers, picture books, novels, non-fiction books and games to attract users of all ages. For the new female entrepreneurs of the beautician and tailoring courses, there is a specialized selection of books for starting businesses, building livelihoods, and taking advantage of government aid.

GUMPTI LIBRARY IMPACT
